Palm Tree with Elephants Pillow
This is a one-of-a-kind custom accent pillow.
Beth found a beautiful fabric. The fabric in the side panels have draped ceremonial elephants. (India, Sri Lanka perhaps?)
The type of Palm that is embroidered in the center panel is called, Cycas Circinalis. The original graphic — for the embroidered palm tree — was drawn by a French botanist in the 1800s — and is now in the public domain. John researched and digititized the design. This embroidered palm tree resembles the original drawing very closely. That is why it has a classic feel. This is how the early botanists sketched plants. The palm branches on the tree have 3 different shades of green thread to create an illusion of depth.
Beth created the pillow design. She uses great computerized embroidery and sewing machines for the bulk of the work, then hand sews the final side shut. Note the decorative trim on each side of the center panel.
The pillow size is approximately 16″ x 16″ x 4″. Inside we have used — as always — a new, soft, high quality pillow insert. The front center panel uses a soft tan upholstery fabric.
This accent pillow would be a great gift for a person with an electic interior design. It would be a great asset for an interior designer or a real estate agent staging a home.
There is a lot research and detail in this pillow — for only $36 plus shipping. Gorgeous.
