Sage & Cream with Chinese calligraphic script for “Love Birds”
This is a one-of-a-kind custom accent pillow. The design has an elegant oriental feel. It is traditional to paint and embroider love birds in China. This design has two Golden Pheasants on a branch of a Cherry tree, with cherry blossoms.
爱情鸟
Read from top to bottom, the chinese text translates as, “Love Birds” The first symbol is the character, 爱, “ài.” It translates: to love, affection, to be fond of, to like. The second symbol is the character, 情, “qíng.” It translates: feeling, emotion, passion. The third symbol is the chinese character for bird, 鸟 “niǎo.”
The particular calligraphic style is an elegant traditional style that works great for embroidery. It has nice curves, and digitizes well. This is not a machine font that is built into an embroidery machine. Each character has been digitized by hand. Each character's strokes actually stitches out in the correct order as if a professional Chinese calligrapher was drawing them.
John researched the design, researched and translated the chinese text, then Beth created the pillow design. Over the last couple of years, this has been a design we have received many compliments on. Beth uses great computerized embroidery and sewing machines for the bulk of the work, then hand sews the final side shut. The fabric has a soft, smooth feel.
The pillow size is approximately 12″ x 16″ x 4″. Inside there is a new, soft pillow insert. It has a cream (slightly tan) suede-like front center panel. It has a moss (sage) green suede-like fabric on the side panels and on the back.
